Privacy Policy
Campfire is designed with privacy as a core principle. Because Campfire is self-hosted software, the vast majority of your data never leaves your own machine. This policy explains what data is collected by the Campfire platform, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Self-Hosted Software
The core Campfire application — including the server management dashboard, mod manager, and game launcher — runs entirely on infrastructure you control. Campfire does not collect or transmit any operational data (server configurations, player data, console logs, mod lists) to Campfire or any third party.
1.2 Campfire Account (campfire-mc.com)
If you create an account on campfire-mc.com for the purposes of downloading the application or joining the waitlist, we collect:
- Email address (required for account creation and verification)
- Account name or display name
- Authentication method (email/password or OAuth provider)
- Date of account creation and last login
We do not collect your real name, physical address, payment information, or any other personally identifying information beyond what is listed above.
1.3 Technical Information
When you visit campfire-mc.com, standard web server logs may capture your IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. This data is used only for security monitoring and is not sold or shared with advertisers.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect only to:
- Create and manage your Campfire account
- Send transactional emails (account verification, password reset, launch notifications)
- Respond to support requests
- Improve the security and reliability of the platform
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.
3. Data Storage
Account data for campfire-mc.com is stored on servers located in the European Union or United States, depending on your region. We apply industry-standard encryption for data at rest and in transit.
All server management data — including your Minecraft server files, configurations, and player data — is stored exclusively on your own hardware and is never transmitted to Campfire servers.
4. Third-Party Services
Campfire integrates with the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy that governs how they handle your data.
4.1 Microsoft / Mojang (Xbox Live Authentication)
The Campfire game launcher uses the official Microsoft OAuth 2.0 authentication flow to verify Minecraft Java Edition ownership and authenticate players. When you link your Microsoft account, you are directed to Microsoft's authentication servers. Campfire does not store your Microsoft password. We retain only the OAuth tokens necessary to authenticate your Minecraft sessions. These tokens are stored locally on your device and are subject to Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
4.2 Modrinth
When you search for or install mods through Campfire, requests are made to the Modrinth API to retrieve mod metadata and download links. Modrinth may log these requests per their Privacy Policy. Campfire does not send any personal information to Modrinth.
4.3 CurseForge
Campfire integrates with the CurseForge API for mod and modpack search. API requests may include an anonymous API key. No personal data is sent to CurseForge. See Overwolf's Privacy Policy for details.
4.4 Resend
Transactional emails (account verification, password resets, waitlist notifications) are sent via Resend. Your email address is shared with Resend solely for the purpose of delivering these emails. See Resend's Privacy Policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Email logs (for transactional emails) may be retained for up to 90 days for debugging purposes.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights under GDPR, CCPA, or other applicable privacy laws, including:
- The right to access the personal data we hold about you
- The right to correct inaccurate data
- The right to delete your account and associated data
- The right to data portability
- The right to object to processing
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
Campfire is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users or through a notice on campfire-mc.com. The effective date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
