Why Tauri?

Most desktop apps for developers are built on Electron and ship with 150MB of bundled Chromium. Campfire takes a different approach.

No bundled browser

Campfire uses Tauri, which renders using the OS-native WebView — not a bundled Chromium. The result is a much smaller install size and lower memory footprint compared to Electron-based apps.

Minimal resource usage

The Campfire desktop process idles well under 100MB of RAM. Server processes themselves run independently, so Campfire's overhead is negligible even while managing multiple servers.

Fast startup

Because there's no browser engine to initialize, Campfire opens in under a second. The management dashboard is available immediately without any loading screens.

Prefer to build from source?

Campfire is open-source. When the repository goes public, you'll be able to clone it and build the desktop app locally with a single Tauri build command.

cargo tauri build
